- The world's strongest climbers are Alberto Gines Lopez, Janja Garnbret, Alex Honnold. Adam Ondra and Chris Sharma are undoubtedly at the top of world climbing. But at the latest since the Olympic debut of climbing, Alberto Gines Lopez and Janja Garnbret are also stars of the scene.

- Around a 27.000 of people die each year because of climbing.

- The most difficuld mountain to climb is the Denali, in Alaska, in the United States.

- Sport climbing consists of climbing or traversing walls with routes equipped with safeties fixed to the wall to ensure the climber's safety. Sport climbing seeks the maximum difficulty of movements, which requires, on the part of the climber, an intense previous preparation.

There are 3 main types of competition climbing: lead, boulder and speed.

- The tallest artificial climbing wall is owned by the BaseCamp Climbing Gym out in Reno, Nevada, USA. The wall measures 51.56 m tall, offering a climbable surface of 49.85 m.

- The tallest free-standing wall ever constructed was built at Banning Mills, Georgia on the 9th December 2011 and measured 41.89 meters.

Rock climbing can burn between anywhere from 500 to as much as 900 calories per hour. Not only that, but it can drive some great changes in your body composition, leading to more lean 

- A paper published by climbing injury researcher Volker Schöffl found that the rate of injury at a climbing wall in Germany was 0.02 per 1000 hours of climbing. When compared to other sports, this is actually quite low and is a similar number found by other studies.

-  Around 25 million people are climbing regularly each year, with an estimated 1,000 - 1,500 people trying the sport for the first time every day in the U.S. alone!

- The world record for the fastest speed climb goes to Libor Hroza who broke the record during the 2014 IFSC Climbing World Cup in Arco. But Veddriq Leonardo broke it.
